2015 Society for Disability Studies Conference
Today I learned that I was invited to present a poster at the Annual Society for Disability Studies Conference in Atlanta, GA this summer. Each June, the Society for Disability Studies brings together a vibrant mix of academics, activists, artists, students and community members. The SDS annual meeting is the premier academic conference in disability studies in the world, but it is also much more; the four day event begins with opening ceremonies Wednesday evening and closes with the fabled SDS dance on Saturday night. In between, there are dozens of academic panels, moderated discussions, workshops, performances, and formal and informal social gatherings where SDS members and other conference attendees share ideas and form valuable lasting professional relationships. Panel sessions and other meetings begin Thursday morning and run daily through Saturday. In addition to the meetings, SDS hosts a poster session, a new book reception, and a silent auction. Each year, SDS also highlights the artistic work of its members. Each June, the Society for Disability Studies brings together a vibrant mix of academics, activists, artists, students and community members.
